Podcast: The story of Euro 1988 and talking to CultKits

In Episode 2 of the Clockwork Oranje Podcast, we tell the story of Euro 1988 and chat with cultkits.com about the iconic shirt the Dutch wore in it.

In each episode prior to Euro 2020 of this podcast from Clockwork Oranje, we will tell the story of how the Netherlands fared at a European Championship and interview guests about their own memories of it.

We hope to have told the stories of all of our favourites tournaments by June, at which point our focus will switch to Euro 2020 itself; hopefully, it’ll be the best story of all!

The Dutch side of 1988 is undoubtedly one of the best the nation has had. Managed by Rinus Michels and featuring Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard and Ronald Koeman, it’s perhaps second only to the class of 74 in terms of great Dutch sides.

The shirt that the side wore for their campaign is equally as great, becoming one of the most iconic pieces of football attire ever. Cult Kits join us to discuss how this came to be, what their site is all about and some more of their favourite Oranje kits from over the years.

Be sure to check out their site and follow them on Twitter and Instagram. If you love classic kits as much as us, you won’t regret it.
